How long will it take to ship a car?
You need to drive up to the terminal and drop your car
there. The car will be kept in a parking lot and will wait
until the next truck that is available can pick it up. If a
truck is passing on that route and will be traveling on the
route of your destination then car will be shipped in that
truck.
If you have
tied up with a transport broker who will be operating under
a major trucking line or will be tied up with
trucking companies, they would have all details of the
logistics of the trucks taking that route for at least the
next two weeks. Based on the logistics data they can give
you a near accurate estimate however delays cannot be ruled
out. The terminal to terminal process takes longer than any
other shipping process and the time could be anything from 4
to six weeks depending on the distance. The door to door
shipping process takes lesser time to ship the car. In the
door to door service the truck that is carrying you car will
be coming to the nearest possible location of your house and
will be picking up the car directly from you. The inspector
will prepare the bill of lading on the spot and the
inspection of the car is also done right on the spot.
How long will it take to
ship a car now depends on the route the truck is taking
and how long it will take to travel to your destination.
Once the truck reaches the destination city the car is again
delivered at your door and the same process is followed
again where the car is inspected on the spot and delivered
to you. The door to door service could take about 2 weeks
for shipping. However the door to door method is also
charged more than the terminal to terminal.
